Straight outta Wrzeszcz (Gdansk, Poland) - you can experience new Rhythm Baboon’s EP entitled “W-Life”. This release continues the powerful vibe of previous Baboon’s EP “The Lizard King” (
uknowme.bandcamp.com/album/rhythm-baboon-the-lizard-king-ep) exploring the territory of footwork and ghetto-tech sounds while sticking to their austere Chicago roots. “W-Life” features guest appearances of Polish Juke crew members - Lux Familiar (“Private Dancer”) and PZG (Houzin). Whole material had been mixed by Teklife’s DJ EARL and mastered by Mikołaj Bugajak (NOON).
Original footwork style at its finest!
“W-Life” vinyl is available in two versions: black (150 copies) or grey (very limited edition of 50 copies).
The album’s cover and visual identification had been designed by Simon Listewnik (Rhythm Baboon) himself whose designer alias is Simo (

RHYTHM BABOON - BIO:
Producer and DJ based in Gdańsk, number one among polish juke/ footwork scene. Style of these Chicago based genres seems to be the ideal environment for Rhythm Baboon’s music who constantly creates new contexts and narrations for genre’s austere flavour. The essence of Baboon’s footwork style consists of feisty pulse, thoughtful themes, intense rhythmics, very gripping leitmotifs and vocal samples. Most of all: the music grabs to dance thanks to nearly two decades of Rhythm Baboon’s djing experience.
As a DJ he is well-known for his unique style and perfected selection. Baboon transcends any categories, serving eclectic sets of bass driven electronica, ghetto-tech, electro, techno, ghetto-house and footwork - his area of of championship. Rhythm Baboon had toured clubs and festivals in Poland and abroad (e.g. with enthusiastic reception during Tallinn Music Week), playing side by side such talents as DJ Paypal, Eprom, RP Boo, DJ Earl, Traxman, Zebra Katz or DJ Stingray. He is a resident DJ in Ziemia - an alternative club in Wrzeszcz, Gdańsk where he organizes author party series called Ghettoteque.
FEEDBACK ABOUT THE "W-Life" EP:
Rhythm Baboon wraca do muzyki juke i footwork, robi to na własnych warunkach i po mistrzowsku. Podrasowane jungle'owym breakiem, doskonałe „Three Bugz In Da Hood" to chyba mój ulubiony moment nowej Epki. Ale mamy tu jeszcze przecież świetne juke'owe „Jukin Stoner" i „Private Dancer", w którym pojawia się Lux Familiar. Do tego w „Houzin" gościnnie wymiata i fryzurę rozwiewa PZG. W skrócie: wyborny materiał. Myślę, że najlepszy w dorobku Szymona. Wspieram i grywam z dużą przyjemnością. Taki „Life" to ja rozumiem!

Epka wciąga dzięki ciekawym samplom, pulsującej stopie i junglowym smaczkom. Całośc stanowi fajny jukowy przelot z doskonałym zwieńczeniem czyli numerem Houzin - moim ulubionym.
